FUT Minna Gets New VC


The Governing Council, Federal University of Technology, Minna on Wednesday approved the appointment of Prof. Musbau Akanji, of the University of Ilorin as the institution’s Vice Chancellor.
The university’s bulletin ”Campus News” stated that the approval was made during the council’s 97th special meeting held in Minna on November 20. Akanji is expected to succeed the outgoing vice chancellor, Prof. Muhammed Audu, whose tenure expires on November 26, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
The appointment, signed by the Pro-Chancellor, is expected to take effect from November 26.
Before his appointment, Akanji was a part-time lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry of the university and had supervised 20 Masters and 16 Doctoral theses.
He is a member of many professional bodies including the Science Association of Nigeria and Nigerian Society for Experimental Biology. He has over 150 scholarly publications in books and journals.
Akanji had worked as a Research Biochemist at the Nigerian Institute of Tryponosomiasis Research Vom, Plateau State.
